The Economic History Society’s Initiatives & Conference Fund supports otherwise unfunded workshops, special meetings, and other initiatives in economic and social history. It prioritizes innovative research, activities that encourage wider participation in the Society, and work that could lead to publication in the discipline’s leading journals. Researchers who are not full-time university academics are particularly encouraged to apply.
One-day workshops are of particular interest when they could generate sessions for the Society’s annual conference or articles for the Economic History Review. Past support spans academic conferences, postgraduate seminars, school workshops, collaborative research, database development, and public-facing activities, including community drama and an event marking Scottish women’s suffrage.
