Description
The Economic History Society’s Nicholas Crafts Early Career Award recognises an outstanding portfolio of research and research-related activity produced at the beginning of a scholarly career. Established through a bequest from Professor Nicholas “Nick” Crafts, it honours his contribution to economic and social history and his support for early-career historians. Crafts was a former Society president and editor of the Economic History Review, known for his work on long-run economic growth and productivity.
The award takes a broad view of scholarly achievement rather than focusing on publications alone. Applicants may present publications, datasets, research projects and outreach, including blogs and podcasts. Selection recognises the applicant judged to have presented the most impressive portfolio of early-career work.
