The Economic History Society’s bursary scheme supports doctoral students in economic and/or social history at United Kingdom colleges and universities. It helps students without full external funding continue their studies when financial pressures affect their ability to do so, particularly following unexpected changes in rent, living expenses or child support costs.
The scheme addresses the personal costs of sustaining doctoral study rather than research-related expenses. It is open to full-time and part-time students whose PhD is already under way, at any stage of their doctorate. Priority may be given to students close to completion. Past recipients have worked on rural communities, trade, household consumption, financial history, migration and urban social history.
