Description
The Edith Sabshin Teaching Awards, presented by the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsA), honor members who have made exceptional contributions to psychoanalytic education for clinicians, academics, and students who are neither psychoanalysts nor psychoanalytic candidates. The award recognizes those who bring psychoanalytic ideas and clinical approaches to educational settings such as universities, medical schools, residency programs, and workshops, thereby broadening the reach and impact of psychoanalytic thinking. Established in 1999 in memory of Dr. Edith Goldbarb Sabshin, the award aims to encourage APsA members to impart psychoanalytic knowledge in diverse contexts, reward teaching excellence, and foster greater engagement with psychoanalysis beyond formal training programs.
