The Michigan Space Grant Consortium (MSGC) supports educational programs that build the future STEM workforce by engaging young students, their parents, guardians, and mentors. Funding supports projects relevant to NASA’s strategic interests, particularly aerospace, space science, and Earth system science. Related science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) fields, including STEAM educational research, are also eligible.
The program has three areas: Pre-College Education, Informal Education/Public Outreach, and Teacher Training. Supported work includes classroom activities and supplementary resources, informal learning programs, conferences, workshops, publications, lectures, science fairs, broadcasts, and innovative pre-service and in-service teacher education. Projects aim to enrich STEM study, strengthen public literacy and interest, and improve teacher preparation. MSGC is Michigan’s affiliate of NASA’s National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program and is primarily funded through a NASA Training Grant.
