    Description

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program provides federal funding to prevent and control crime and improve criminal justice systems. Georgia’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) administers this solicitation for continuation of existing state-agency projects. The Bureau of Justice Assistance administers JAG federally and develops performance measures for funded programs.

Supported work spans law enforcement, prosecution and courts, prevention and education, corrections and community corrections, drug treatment and enforcement, and planning, evaluation, and technology improvements. Funding also supports crime victim and witness services other than compensation, and mental health programs linked to law enforcement and corrections, including behavioral programs and crisis intervention teams. Funds must supplement existing resources rather than replace nonfederal funding appropriated for the same purpose.
