Description
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Formula Grant Program is administered in Tennessee by the Department of Finance and Administration’s Office of Criminal Justice Programs (OCJP). It supports partnerships among federal, state and local governments and nonprofit organizations to create safer communities, with an emphasis on violent and drug-related crime and serious offenders.
Funding supports personnel, equipment, training and technical assistance for prevention, apprehension, prosecution, adjudication, detention, treatment and rehabilitation of offenders. Projects should have a high probability of improving criminal justice agency operations and be designed for replication by other agencies if successful. Tennessee develops its priorities with input from the criminal justice community, judicial districts and state agencies. The program also encourages multi-jurisdictional and multi-state efforts supporting national drug-control policies.
