The fellowship program is designed to inspire graduate students in languages, literatures, and related fields to pursue transformative research or experiential learning experiences beyond their immediate academic environments. Awards support PhD students as they travel more than 200 miles from their home or institution to conduct research, advance their dissertation work, or engage in hands-on professional opportunities that prepare them for careers within or outside academia. Projects supported can include research for publication, dissertation advancement, or experiential learning with public humanities agencies, nonprofits, or community organizations.
