Description
The Electronics Management Fund, administered by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), provides annual allocations to local governments for electronics recycling program costs. It supports programs handling discarded computer equipment, televisions, and other electronic devices within the state’s electronics management framework.
The program connects local recycling and reuse activities with solid waste management planning and annual reporting. Required planning addresses collection practices, equipment types, marketing collected equipment for recycling, public awareness and education, and tracking tonnage collected and recycled. It also covers coordination between local governments providing or receiving electronics disposal services and responsible handling through recyclers certified to Responsible Recycling (R2) practices or the e-Stewards standard.
