Description
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Waste Management administers the Electronics Management Fund for local government electronics recycling programs. Fund monies support program costs associated with collecting and recycling discarded computer equipment, televisions, and other electronic devices. The program contributes to the state’s goal of building a recycling infrastructure for covered electronics.
To qualify for a distribution, a local government must connect its electronics program to its solid waste management plan. Its electronics management plan describes collection and recycling practices, public education, how collected materials are tracked, and any service arrangements with other local governments. The annual application covers the preceding July 1–June 30 fiscal year.
