Description
The Elias J. Corey Award is administered by the American Chemical Society (ACS) as part of its National Awards program. It honors accomplished research rather than funding a proposed project, recognizing original and insightful contributions of exceptional merit in synthetic organic chemistry. Relevant achievements include novel, highly useful reagents, reactions, or catalytic processes that solve synthetic problems of considerable importance.
Special consideration is given to applying novel chemistry to the synthesis of natural products and organic molecules of medicinal importance, and to discovering new reactions or processes with broad utility. Established by the ACS Board of Directors in 2002, the award is supported by the Pfizer Endowment Fund, established with funding from Pfizer, Inc.
