The Elizabeth A. Whitehead Distinguished Scholar award at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA) supports established scholars pursuing research related to the School’s mission. The scholar’s project must use the School’s facilities and enrich its academic program. The appointment runs from early September 2027 through the end of May 2028, combining individual research with participation in the School’s academic life.
Scholars work closely with Regular and Student Associate members during the winter term, from late November to late March. Contributions include a seminar or workshop in the scholar’s area of expertise and participation in School trips and excursions. Applicants propose how their expertise will contribute to the academic program alongside their current and projected research.
