Description
The Elkhorn Fund supports charitable programs and projects benefiting the Elkhorn community. Overseen by the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, it was established in 2007 to help current and former residents give back through charitable contributions. Donations are held in a permanent endowment, with a percentage of earnings distributed annually through grants.
The fund supports historical and environmental preservation, education, health care, youth programs, and senior programming. A local volunteer advisory board guides fundraising and determines awards in response to community needs. Recent grants have supported school books and assemblies, food distribution, affordable apartments, transportation assistance, community reading, and programs for adults with developmental needs.
