The Ellis-Beauregard Foundation Documentary Film Award is an initiative of the Ellis-Beauregard Foundation in collaboration with Points North Institute. It supports visionary US-based nonfiction filmmakers developing feature-length documentaries at the post-production stage. The award champions ambitious, artist-driven work that challenges convention and expands the language of nonfiction cinema, with selection centered on artistic excellence, originality, clarity of vision, and creative potential.
Alongside unrestricted funding, the award offers a dedicated creative retreat hosted by Points North Institute in conjunction with the Camden International Film Festival. Directors and editors share a work-in-progress cut with leading documentary editors, producers, and creative advisers in an intimate, supportive setting. Both emerging and established filmmakers are eligible.
