Description
The Jeannette Rankin Foundation’s Emerge Grant supports women and nonbinary residents of Georgia and Montana pursuing technical or vocational education, an associate’s degree, or a first bachelor’s degree. Awards are distributed directly to recipients as unrestricted, non-tuition support while they pursue their education. The program reflects Jeannette Rankin’s ties to Montana, which she represented as the first female Congresswoman, and Georgia, where she lived. The foundation was established in 1976 from the sale of her Georgia estate.
The program emphasizes concrete, realistic academic and professional goals, clear plans for achieving them, and how applicants will use their education to give back to their communities. Trained volunteer reviewers assess applications through a three-tier process, with each application reviewed at least five times before Scholars are selected.
