Description
The Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) is a DHS/FEMA program administered in Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA). Authorized by Title VI of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, it supports a shared federal, state, and local system of emergency preparedness that protects life and property from hazards.
Funding supports emergency management needs primarily through planning, training, exercises, and emergency management personnel salaries. Rhode Island uses pass-through funding for the State, Local, and Tribal Assistance program to sustain existing capabilities and fill gaps identified through the Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment and State Preparedness Report. Projects should advance RIEMA’s vision of a well-prepared whole community participating in planning, response, recovery, and mitigation.
