The Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) supports early-career faculty in designing, developing, and leading research relevant to emergency medicine while building a path toward independent research. The grant combines a research project with a thoughtful career development plan, which may include didactics, mentored meetings, or an advanced degree. Research and training should advance the investigator’s long-term research goals and readiness to compete for extramural funding.
The program emphasizes significance to emergency medicine, research strategy, feasibility, and innovation. Proposed work may address important problems or knowledge gaps with the potential to improve healthcare, patient outcomes, or emergency medicine practice. EMF encourages partnerships between research universities and community emergency departments, as well as engagement with operational and policy partners.
