Description
The Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered in Idaho by the Idaho Housing and Finance Association (IHFA). It supports a coordinated crisis response for sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness, as well as individuals and families at risk of losing their housing. Its goal is to help households regain stability quickly in permanent housing and move toward independent living.
ESG supports essential street outreach services, emergency shelter operations and renovation, short- and medium-term rental assistance, and housing relocation and stabilization services. Program priorities include maximizing mainstream resources and directing resources using data, risk assessments, budgets, and project performance reviews. Funds are awarded competitively through IHFA’s application and award process.
