Description
The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Emerging Leaders Fellowship provides training, tools, and support for new faculty and faculty transitioning to leadership roles. It is designed for educators who aspire to lead a team or initiative within a family medicine residency program, medical school department, or academic family medicine organization.
A central component is a leadership practicum: fellows lead a group through a workplace project from start to finish while developing their leadership skills. Mentorship from family medicine leaders addresses motivating others and navigating difficult people and situations. Two STFM Annual Spring Conferences, a mid-year in-person workshop, peer synergy groups, and leadership conference calls provide learning and support. Fellows present their leadership experience at a national conference.
