Funding Amounts: Up to $5,000 for Emerging Needs Grants; up to $10,000 for Nonprofit Capacity Building Grants

Key Information: Applicants must have 501(c)(3) status and may receive no more than one grant per calendar year.
Description
The Initiative Foundation offers two complementary grant tracks to strengthen nonprofit organizations serving Central Minnesota. Emerging Needs Grants provide rapid response and short-term support for urgent needs and operational stabilization. Nonprofit Capacity Building Grants support longer-term organizational strengthening and sustainability. Together, the tracks help nonprofits maintain services and better meet the needs of people across the region.
Supported work includes strategic and succession planning, fundraising, technology, staffing and operational stability. Awarded projects have also addressed leadership development, governance transitions, volunteer recruitment and management, marketing and communications, and revenue diversification. Short-term assistance has helped organizations sustain mental health, family support, supportive housing and victim advocacy services, respond to increased food demand, and maintain transportation for veterans.
