Description
The Emerging Psychiatrists Program (EPP) is a comprehensive, virtual year-long learning experience offered by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) for medical students. Participants learn from world-renowned psychiatrists, explore psychiatric subspecialties, and gain resources and experiences that build awareness of careers in psychiatry and support career development in mental health services.
EPP is part of the APA Workforce Development Initiative, supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Minority Fellowship Program. The initiative aims to strengthen the psychiatric workforce and advance knowledge related to prevention, treatment, and recovery support. The program combines virtual learning with academic resources and opportunities to attend in-person professional events.
