Description
The CMT Research Foundation’s George and Cleary Simpson Award for Emerging Researchers supports early-career scientists pursuing high-impact research to overcome barriers to treatments for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT). Each cycle focuses on a challenge, topic, or priority selected by the foundation’s research and drug development team. The 2026–2027 focus is transcriptional regulation of the peripheral nerve using omic-level analysis.
Projects may involve basic science, translational, or clinical research applicable to CMT drug development, targeting either an individual CMT subtype or multiple forms. Within the designated focus area, the foundation encourages bold, creative, and innovative approaches. Collaboration across research groups and between academic and industry investigators is highly encouraged. Priority goes to projects with strong scientific merit and high potential to lead to further CMT drug development research.
