The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) runs the Employer Reasonable Accommodation Fund to reduce financial barriers to hiring and retaining people with disabilities. Eligible employers can seek reimbursement after purchasing reasonable accommodations for a job applicant or employee with a disability. Covered examples include assistive technology, captioning and interpreting services, job coaching, ergonomic workstations, specialized software, and wheelchair ramps.
The program also offers employers no-cost technical assistance on reasonable accommodations and the Americans with Disabilities Act as it relates to hiring and retention. The coordinator can help employers locate and implement accommodations and connect them with disability-related training and resources.
