Description
Champion Grants, administered by the Alabama Power Foundation, help Alabama public school teachers prepare students for college and careers in math and/or science. Teachers in grades nine through eleven apply as grade-level and/or subject-area teams. The program connects teacher-selected professional development with instructional resources and classroom technology, emphasizing collaboration, professional growth, and peer support.
Funded projects should explain how professional learning and classroom tools work together to improve student achievement. Resources should increase engagement, scaffold instruction, and strengthen learning of math and science concepts. Support can include ACT preparation materials and courses addressing the test’s math and science portions. Professional development focuses on subject content and teaching practice through coaching, collaboration, and continued learning.
