--- ## Description Champion Grants from the Alabama Power Foundation fund teams of public high school teachers (grades 9–11) to pursue professional development and acquire instructional resources aimed at improving student achievement in math and/or science. The grant is designed to foster teacher collaboration, support targeted professional development, and integrate effective classroom technology and resources, all with the goal of boosting college or career readiness among students. Applicants must articulate how their proposed activities will enhance learning outcomes and describe methods for measuring student achievement. --- ## Due Dates - March 13, 2026: Champion Grant Cycle 1 application deadline (applications open February 23, 2026) - June 3, 2026: Champion Grant application deadline (applications available starting May 9, 2026) - September 4, 2026: Champion Grant Cycle 2 application deadline (applications open August 3, 2026) --- ## Funding Amount - Up to $7,500 per teacher team per cycle. - Funding supports professional development, instructional resources, and classroom technology. - Typical grant duration is one year. --- ## Eligibility - Applicants must be teams of public high school teachers in grades 9–11. - Schools must demonstrate financial need: priority is given to Title I schools or those where at least 50% of students receive free or reduced-price lunches. - Preference for schools within Alabama Power’s service territory. - Awards are paid directly to the school (not individuals or nonprofits). - Recipient schools must have IRS tax-exempt status and a non-discrimination policy. - Private schools and non-school organizations are not eligible. --- ## Application Process - Applications must be submitted online through the [Champion Grants application portal](https://bbgm-apply.yourcausegrants.com/apply/programs/308a52de-7936-4287-a80d-f1b3eb4bb8f3). - Required information includes: - School and district details, enrollment, and percentage of students on free/reduced lunch. - Principal and teacher team background. - Grant proposal describing use of funds, professional development plans (topic, provider, cost, dates), expected impact, and methods for measuring student achievement. - Budget breakdown. - All applications are reviewed for adherence to guidelines.
