Description
This program provides major funding to build 20-year term endowments for organizations engaged in humanities research, teaching, and public programming. The initiative is designed to ensure long-term financial stability for humanities organizations by requiring recipients to raise matching non-federal funds, which are then matched by the NEH. The income from the endowment supports activities focused on Western civilization, American history and government, and civics. Funds may be used for personnel, research, preservation, curriculum development, public programs, and related expenses, but not for general operating costs or activities outside the humanities.
