The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program is supported by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law through the U.S. Department of Energy and administered in Montana by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The law invested $550 million nationally to help communities, cities, states, U.S. territories, and Tribes implement strategies that reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions, improve energy efficiency, develop clean energy strategies, and create jobs.
Supported work includes energy planning and technical assistance, building energy audits and retrofits, financial incentives, public education, and progress measurement. Funding also supports efficient transportation infrastructure, building codes, energy distribution systems, material conservation, landfill greenhouse-gas technologies, onsite renewable energy on government buildings, and financing programs for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and zero-emission transportation.
