Description
The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida’s Environmental Conservation Grants support work to improve, protect, and conserve the region’s natural environment. Grants draw on the Northeast Florida Environmental Conservation Fund, established in 2022 by the Public Trust for Conservation and St. Johns Riverkeeper to receive funds resulting from Clean Water Act violations. An expert advisory committee assists the foundation in making grants designed to remediate pollution’s impacts on water and air quality.
Supported work includes pollution prevention and reduction, environmental restoration, water quality enhancements, assessments and auditing, environmental compliance promotion, and emergency planning and preparedness. Pollution prevention receives particular emphasis. Projects may receive preference when they leverage other support by bridging a funding gap or providing a required match, or include educational or community outreach that amplifies community benefit.
