Description
The Kentucky Energy & Environment Cabinet’s Soil and Water Conservation Commission provides Environmental Grants to conservation districts to reduce agricultural non-point source pollution of surface water or groundwater. The program addresses specific local environmental issues through projects that educate the public about pollution, demonstrate effective alternatives, or encourage adoption of new management techniques and measures.
Supported activities include dead animal removal, environmental education, tree seedling giveaways, tire or white goods cleanup, septic repair incentives for rural homes, soil or manure testing, and local cost share programs. Districts must select an allowable category from the application. The program has also supported metal recycling, illegal dump cleanup, stream bank stabilization, and agricultural watershed monitoring.
