    Description

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) offers Environmental Officer Grants to curtail illegal dumping through environmental crimes enforcement and cleanup work. Funding helps local law enforcement agencies start programs to investigate and clean illegal dumpsites. Awards typically support part of the salary of one part-time Environmental Officer, cleanup equipment, labor, and other costs associated with cleanups or collection events.

The program supports DEQ’s responsibility to prevent, control, and abate solid waste pollution that threatens human health or the environment. Projects combine enforcement, practical cleanup resources, and community outreach. Recipients document their work through monthly invoices, photographs, reports, and project-specific metrics, such as dumps identified and pounds of trash collected.
