The International Ephraim E. Urbach Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Jewish Studies is funded and administered by the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture in cooperation with the World Union of Jewish Studies. It assists a limited number of outstanding recent PhD recipients in a field of Jewish studies as they move from doctoral work into scholarly careers.
The fellowship supports first-book publication, the launch of a scholarly career, and/or further research in a scholar’s area of special interest. Rather than prescribing a single research topic within Jewish studies, it focuses on developing scholarship by promising early-career researchers. Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong graduate academic achievement, distinguished dissertation work, and promise of a distinguished academic career.
