Description

Maine Community Foundation’s Equity Fund strengthens lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) organizations and supports projects serving LGBTQ+ communities throughout Maine. General support provides flexible funding for new, expanding, or ongoing programs, operational needs, and capital expenses. Project grants support new or expanded activities with defined start and end dates, goals, and objectives related to—but different from—the organization’s mission.

The fund prioritizes proposals addressing underserved geographic areas or populations, increasing access to health care or reducing health disparities, reducing violence or harassment, and promoting respect and understanding. A community advisory committee selects proposals that best meet the program’s criteria and priorities, with reviewers also evaluating the breadth and depth of engagement with the people served.
