Description
The Ericsson Research Foundation promotes scientific research through grants to researchers and master’s students at Swedish universities and institutes. Established in 1946 to honor Ericsson founder Lars Magnus Ericsson, it supports electrical engineering research, interpreted broadly to include work of interest to Ericsson. The company’s own research includes radio systems, microwave technology, security, artificial intelligence and IP networks, but it also draws on research beyond those areas.
Grants typically provide partial funding for a research visit to a foreign university or for presenting an accepted paper at a conference. The foundation sometimes supports students undertaking a master’s thesis abroad.
