Funding Amounts: 20% of the recipient’s gross salary, capped at EUR 20,000 per year for up to two consecutive years
Summary: Supports ESCMID researchers with childcare, illness, or family care responsibilities by funding support personnel during reduced working hours.
Key Information: Funding pays support personnel, not the applicant, and requires eligible ESCMID membership.
The CAREer Grant is run by the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) to help researchers sustain their scientific careers while balancing personal and professional responsibilities. It supports work in Clinical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, and Infection Control when childcare, illness, or care for an ill or elderly parent limits full-time work.
Rather than paying the researcher directly, the grant covers the salary of qualified support personnel, such as a scientific or technical staff member or an assistant. This assistance supports researchers who plan to reduce their workload from 100% to 80%, or who already work at 80% or less because of family care responsibilities.
