    Description

The European Society for Evolutionary Biology (ESEB) runs three funding opportunities through its volunteer Equal Opportunities Committee. Together, they address barriers to learning about evolution, studying evolutionary biology, and sustaining a career in the field. The programme aims to improve representation, access to resources, collaborative networks, and the visibility of under-represented researchers.

The Equal Opportunities Initiative Fund supports inclusion activities and projects investigating unequal opportunities. Supported work includes diversity and technical-training workshops, seminars, outreach, professional development, community-building, and diversity-related data collection, analysis, or publication. Congress Attendance Aid addresses private financial barriers associated with care, accessibility, and structural inequality. The under-represented ECR achievement awards recognise research achievements made under difficult circumstances. The committee also seeks to counter prejudice by highlighting the historic and ongoing misuse of evolutionary biology.
