The European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) Clinical Fellowship promotes patient care, clinical management, and clinical research through training at European centres with a highly recognised reputation in paediatric endocrinology. Supported by ESPE and an educational grant from Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, the programme offers three-month placements and a limited number of six-month placements.
The Clinical Fellowship Committee selects fellows and determines each placement’s duration and destination, considering training needs, preferences, host-centre availability, application evaluation, and financial resources. Fellows gain hands-on experience and clinical skills, with the expectation that they will return to their home country to strengthen paediatric endocrinology practice. Home-centre commitment to the fellow’s future career and use of newly acquired knowledge is an important part of selection.
