Funder: European Sleep Research Society
Due Dates (Anticipated): March 2027 (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: Up to €2,800 for a three-month fellowship
Summary: Supports collaborative sleep research visits that advance research training, methodological exchange, and career development.
Key Information: Applicants must be ESRS members and have an agreement with a host laboratory in the ESRS Network of Sleep Research Laboratories.
The European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) Short-Term Research Fellowship supports three-month visits for basic, translational, or clinical sleep research at a different institution. It promotes the exchange of researchers and clinicians, the transfer and implementation of new sleep research techniques or methodologies, and career development in sleep research and sleep medicine. Particular preference is given to candidates in the early stages of their careers.
Research must be central to the visit, rather than purely clinical or educational training. Projects must lead to significant research output, preferably a full paper, including a preprint, or at least an abstract accepted for presentation at an international scientific meeting. This output may follow the fellow’s return to their home institution, where the research is intended to continue.
