The East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC) administers Essentials Support, formerly known as Operating Support Grants, for established arts organizations that produce, present, or exhibit art, provide services to artists, or offer community arts learning. The program supports ongoing organizational needs rather than specific arts projects or events. Organizations do not need to propose new initiatives to justify funding.
Supported expenses include facility rental, utilities, supplies, equipment, insurance, general advertising, memberships, board and staff training, planning consultations, and accessibility improvements. Staffing costs may account for up to 50% of the grant request. Funded through Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, the program aims to sustain organizational capacity and make high-quality arts experiences accessible to Region 7E residents.
