    Description

The European Society for Translation Studies (EST) Open Access Prize supports free access to outstanding journal articles in translation studies. Established at the EST Congress in Oslo in 2022, the prize continued following positive feedback. It responds to the growing importance of freely accessible academic publications in a field where many journals remain behind access barriers.

Awarded every three years in collaboration with Routledge and Benjamins, the prize makes two selected articles openly accessible: one from each publisher’s participating journals. The Open Access Prize Committee prioritizes excellence of scholarly contribution, including originality, significance, and theoretical and methodological rigor. The potential impact on an applicant’s career may also be considered. The next prizes will be presented at the EST Congress in Kraków in June 2028.
