Summary: Supports experimental quantum fabrication infrastructure that bridges academic research and industrial-scale quantum hardware production.
Key Information: Participation is restricted to legal entities in EU Member States or EuroHPC JU Participating States, with ownership-control safeguards.
EuroHPC Joint Undertaking funds this Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action to implement the pilot production elements of the Qu-Pilot Framework Partnership Agreement. The program strengthens Europe's quantum technology leadership and strategic autonomy by developing experimental manufacturing capacity between academic research and future stable pilot lines under the Chips Joint Undertaking.
The work covers scalable, reproducible fabrication of quantum processors, quantum sensors, and cryo-compatible packaging and interconnects. Priorities include quantum-specific cleanroom capabilities, standardised yield analysis and quality assurance, and early certification pathways. Shared infrastructure and fabrication access should connect academic and industrial partners, including SMEs, startups, and research institutes. Collaboration with Qu-Test and other testbeds, alongside alignment with the Chips JU pilot line roadmap, should accelerate validation and transfer across quantum computing, sensing, communications, and enabling technologies.
