The Microgrants for Ecosystem Development support cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange among fact-checkers responding to disinformation during crises across Europe. The European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) runs the call with seven partner organisations through the EU-funded FACTEUR project. It addresses information crises in which demand for reliable news outpaces verified facts and national disinformation narratives can spread across borders.
Funding supports two outputs concerning semi-predictable and unpredictable crisis events. Fact-sheets provide brief overviews of prevalent narratives and claims during ongoing crises with potential cross-border impact. Case studies document post-crisis disinformation surges and organisations’ responses and experiences. Outputs are shared with the fact-checking community to warn of spill-over effects and spread practical know-how.
