    Funder: European Commission

Due Dates: November 19, 2026, at 17:00 CET (Submission)

Funding Amounts: €3,940,000 total budget; one project expected; 50% co-financing; indicative duration of 18 months

Summary: Supports analysis and non-operational pilots testing how private-sector situational data can improve submarine-cable security through Regional Cable Hubs.

Key Information: Consortia must represent at least two EU Member States through competent public authorities.

    Description

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT) runs this pilot project under Pilot Projects and Preparatory Actions (PPPA). It funds analytical work and small-scale demonstrations exploring how privately held situational data could support Regional Cable Hubs envisaged under the EU Action Plan on Cable Security.

Projects should map relevant data and providers, assess access conditions, and explore interoperability and data fusion across providers and sea basins. Relevant data include cable telemetry, sensor feeds, satellite and maritime surveillance, and underwater-drone outputs. Non-operational demonstrations should test integration approaches and assess spatial precision, timeliness, coverage and reliability. Expected outputs include a consolidated data reference, feasible partnership models, and recommendations for EU guidance, standardisation or follow-up support.
