Funder: European Commission
Due Dates: May 5, 2027 (Opening) | September 15, 2027 (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: €6,750,000 expected EU contribution per project; €20,250,000 total topic budget for 3 expected grants
Summary: Supports demonstrations of on-site robotics and automation to accelerate energy renovation and improve construction efficiency, accuracy and sustainability.
Key Information: Projects must address existing buildings’ energy renovation, include 3D printing, and deliver at least three demonstrations.
The European Commission funds this Horizon Europe Innovation Action under Cluster 5: Climate, Energy and Mobility. It supports innovative robotic and automated techniques designed specifically for building sites, helping modernise construction and accelerate deep renovation. The aim is to make work more sustainable, less disruptive, faster, more accurate, cost-effective and resource-efficient while maintaining at least the building elements’ energy performance achieved by current best practices.
Projects are expected to improve resource efficiency and designed-versus-as-built accuracy, significantly reduce building professionals’ time on site, and lower site greenhouse gas emissions. Techniques should adapt to different building typologies and, where possible, existing market materials and components. Worker safety and human–robot collaboration are central considerations. Energy renovation of existing buildings is mandatory; new construction may also be addressed.
