    Description

This Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action supports the European Commission’s EU Cancer Mission. It funds multi-centre phase 1 clinical trials, including first-in-human studies, to establish early safety and efficacy of biomarker-guided medicines or multi-modal interventions for rare or very rare cancers and cancer subtypes. Where still needed, projects should finalise preclinical validation using in vivo, ex vivo or in silico models and consider drug repurposing.

The topic prioritises safety, efficacy and patient-reported outcomes, with trial endpoints defined together with patients and caregivers through participative research. Projects should generate evidence for further testing of affordable treatments, support access through subsequent trials or compassionate use programmes, and enable further validation or commercialisation. Proposals should contribute to all expected outcomes and include multidisciplinary stakeholders and regional and national health authorities.
