This European Commission Horizon Europe topic supports the consolidation of Europe’s research infrastructure landscape through the strengthening, long-term sustainability, reorientation or evolution of ESFRI Landmarks and European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs). Working alongside the infrastructures’ member countries, projects should improve infrastructure use, expand services to wider user communities and strengthen capacity to address scientific, societal and EU policy challenges.
Supported work includes broadening membership, reinforcing international cooperation, revising business and funding plans, developing staff skills and strengthening national or thematic nodes. Projects may extend remote or virtual access, improve FAIR research data management or develop impact assessments. Priorities also include reducing environmental impacts and resource and energy consumption throughout infrastructure life cycles, engaging industry and SMEs, and strengthening innovation potential and connections to innovation ecosystems.
