Access to research infrastructures, their resources and services: large-scale pilots for more integrated scheme across (sub)domains funds researchers’ infrastructure access to advance research.
Funder: European Commission
Due Dates: March 9, 2027 (Opening) | June 15, 2027 (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: €105 million total topic budget; €35 million EU contribution per project; 3 grants expected
Summary: Supports large-scale pilots integrating transnational and virtual access to complementary research infrastructures across scientific domains.
Key Information: Proposals should include at least two ESFRI Landmarks and/or ERICs as beneficiaries and explicitly identify one pilot area.
This Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action funds large-scale pilots that make advanced research infrastructure services more accessible to researchers and innovators, irrespective of location. Run by the European Commission under Research Infrastructures 2027, it supports transnational access, on-site or remote, and/or virtual access for frontier, curiosity-driven and applied research. A core of experienced infrastructures provides access alongside third-party providers responding to user demand.
The pilots aim to establish single-entry portals, interoperable service catalogues and converging access conditions and selection procedures, moving towards a sustainable access programme across ESFRI domains. Priorities include interdisciplinary research, user training, scientific and technical support, FAIR data management and relevant European Open Science Cloud connections. Short-term service development is supported when resulting services become available during the project and their long-term sustainability is ensured.
