Summary: Supports real-world demonstrations that strengthen climate resilience and restore ecological functions in riparian and coastal areas, waterfront cities, and islands.
Key Information: Each proposal must address one Mission basin, with at least 6 demonstrations across at least 3 countries.
This Horizon Europe Innovation Action supports the European Commission’s Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters”. It funds testing and demonstration of innovative, cost-effective solutions that help riparian and coastal communities adapt to climate change while improving ecological functions. Priorities include water quality, pollution remediation, erosion control, sediment transport, biodiversity restoration, and reduced vulnerability to flooding, sea-level rise, extreme events, and drought.
Projects should demonstrate operational feasibility and economic viability under real conditions, with biodiversity co-benefits and clear potential for replication. Nature-based solutions, integrated source-to-sea approaches, transboundary action, and regeneration of the blue economy are encouraged. Close work with public authorities and active citizen participation should support local uptake, capacity building, policy guidance, and investment in scaling successful solutions.
