Summary: Supports geothermal stakeholder coordination, research and innovation roadmaps, and policy analysis to advance Europe’s clean energy transition.
Key Information: This Coordination and Support Action supports the geothermal ETIP and SET Plan Implementation Working Group, not research activities.
The European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme funds coordination and support for the geothermal European Technology and Innovation Platform (ETIP) and SET Plan Implementation Working Group (IWG). The project should align these stakeholder groups with European climate and energy priorities, strengthen science-based policy evidence, and support the Strategic Energy Technology Plan’s contribution to the clean energy transition.
Work includes research and innovation roadmaps, strategic reports, and analyses of market opportunities, funding needs, innovation barriers, competitiveness and strategic autonomy. The stakeholder fora should bring together industry, including SMEs, research organisations, universities, civil society and relevant European associations across several SET Plan countries, with links to national authorities. Priorities include energy security, resilient supply chains, circularity, digitalisation, skills and a just transition, taking account of end-user needs, inequalities and employment issues.
