Summary: Supports coordination among cancer charities and funding agencies to finance transnational research improving young cancer patients’ and survivors’ quality of life.
Key Information: The network must fund at least two transnational research calls using its own resources; EU funding supports coordination, not those research projects.
This European Commission Coordination and Support Action under Horizon Europe’s Cancer Mission supports a network of registered cancer charities and funding agencies across EU Member States and Associated Countries. The network will organise research calls, networking and outreach to improve physical, emotional and social well-being and long-term outcomes for young cancer patients and survivors.
The research financed by the network should develop, test and scale up holistic approaches and tools, including digital tools, for treatment and follow-up in real-life settings. Interventions should reflect local care systems and benefit local patient and survivor communities. Direct participation by patients, survivors and caregivers, together with social sciences and humanities expertise, is required. Accessible, reusable data, tools and models should support the future UNCAN.eu research data platform.
