The Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies (BIAAS), an institute of the Botstiber Foundation, supports events that promote understanding of the historic relationship between the United States and Austria, including Habsburg Austria. Eligible fields include history, politics, economics, law, and cultural studies. Supported formats include conferences, symposia, seminars, exhibits, workshops, lectures, and other events. Funding can support an event wholly or partly, including online events when the format is justified.
Proposals should explain the event’s significance to Austrian-American studies and its value to scholars and/or general audiences. BIAAS also encourages projects that help it promote grantee work and work products, particularly through contributions to its Austro-American Blog Series, The Botstiber Podcast, or the Journal of Austrian-American History.
