Description
The Biochemical Society’s Sponsored Event Grants assist with the independent organisation of scientific meetings, training events, single lectures and small events. Support is available through two categories: single lectures and small events, and scientific meetings or training events. Face-to-face and virtual formats can be supported, with small-event examples including institutional seminar series, half-day symposia and postgraduate research days.
Funding must support the science rather than catering or venue costs. For small events, the Society particularly welcomes cross-institutional, regional and student-focused activities. Previously supported costs include attendance bursaries for students and early-career researchers, keynote speakers’ travel and accommodation, consumables and worksheets. Scientific meetings and training events must follow the Society’s policy for a balanced and diverse programme of speakers or trainers.
