Description
The TSF Every Heartbeat Matters Award supports qualified surgeons conducting charity surgical outreach in underserved regions and populations. Offered by the Thoracic Surgery Foundation through the generosity of the Edwards Lifesciences Foundation, it funds programs that educate, screen, and/or treat underserved populations to reduce the global burden of heart valve disease. Its scope also includes education and awareness campaigns, research, and direct care that advance health care for underserved communities.
TSF prioritizes programs with a clear pathway to sustainable impact beyond a single outreach visit. Applicants should explain how their work strengthens local capacity, increases the independence of local clinicians and health care systems, and creates durable improvements in patient access to care. Heart valve disease recognition and treatment, including screening that translates into surgical intervention, are central application topics.
